Sweet, naïve, immature MAMMA: Annie Lou’s mother, loving in a Prussian sort of way, 50-65 years old. She’s second generation American. MARGARET: Annie Lou’s unmarried and unhappy high school English teacher, who becomes her confident. She’s Canadian, 35-50 years old.
